Replicas from Colonial Times

Dear Parents,

The fifth-graders have been learning about the early colonial period.  Each class was divided into three groups:  New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies.  Each group is researching their designated area and compiling a colonial region book.

In addition to creating a non-fiction text, the students will be required to create a 3-dimensional replica from the colonial period, and then type a descriptive paragraph about it.

Students should choose one of the following replica options:

  • a model of a colonial home, plantation, church, historical ship, or famous person
  • a diorama depicting a scene from everyday life in a colonial home
  • an artifact indigenous to the early colonial period

All projects will be displayed in our exhibit hall during our Colonial Winter Festival.  The student’s replica, along with a typed description, will be due on Tuesday, December 1.  If you have any questions, please email me.

Thank you for all your support,

Julie Tognoni
